CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR

Raney Geotechnical, Inc. is searching for a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform field and shop testing and inspections services on a variety of construction projects, including school, hospital, commercial, governmental, and residential projects in the greater Sacramento/Stockton area.

Starting at $30/hour
*Salary is negotiable, depending on experience, skillset, and certifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society.
  • At least 3 years of experience in materials testing and special inspections.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the inspection and documentation of field and shop welding to verify compliance with the approved project documents as well as the applicable building code and/or DSA requirements.
  • Familiarity with construction materials standards, specifications, and codes (AISC, ASTM, AWS).
  • Prepare daily reports of observations and test results.
  • Interact with client representatives (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
  • Ability to attend client meetings.
  • Ability to work with fabrication, construction, and quality personnel as part of the verification process to ensure quality standards are being met at the project site or in a fabrication facility.
  • Familiarity with sampling and testing of construction materials (i.e. structural steel, high strength bolts, anchor bolts, etc.) in accordance with project standards and specifications.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

Other beneficial certifications include:

  • Ultrasonic (UT Level II) certification is beneficial.
  • International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector.
  • ICC Prestressed (Post-Tension) Concrete Special Inspector.
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector.
  • ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector.
  • Division of State Architect (DSA) Masonry Special Inspector.
  • DSA Shotcrete Special Inspector.
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Testing.
